Description

At long last the very first mini-series that started it all is back in print in a prestigious hardcover format fully recolored and remastered in rich vivid color that literally pops off the page featuring the artwork of cartoonist legend Scott Shaw! himself. In addition to collecting the entirety of issues 0 thru 3 originally published by Archie Comics, the Tails story from the 1st SONIC 48-page special and the FF1 cover parody originally published in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG issue 50, Scott has included a variety of Sonic commissioned pieces and convention sketches he’s created over the years. 180 pages of mind-blowing fun awaits the reader in this first Sonic collection of the MOBIAN Adventure Series line.

Even after having picked up the previous two Floating Island Productions releases, this one was still a shock to me! Although these stories aren’t new to me, the presentation of them makes them feel fresh and alive – had me flipping through the whole book in one sitting.

Not only is the new coloring excellent and an achievement on its own, it uncovers a level of depth in the original art that the original coloring simply couldn’t.

Beyond the new coat of paint and the outstanding print quality, which I could go on about all day, the stories collected in this book are can’t-miss material. If you’ve ever cared about Sonic and haven’t read them already, or even if you have but it’s been a while, you owe it to yourself to give it a look.

The sense of history and context given for the comics at the beginning of the book is also a true gift to any readers who pick this up. I consider myself close to an expert when it comes to Sonic comics, and there was background even I was unaware of!

I highly recommend this release to anyone who cares (or knows someone who does) about Sonic the Hedgehog. It was worth every cent and more. 🙂
