An excellent read, giving readers a glimpse of a very interesting time in Sonic comics!

The package for my order arrived a day earlier than expected, which was a pleasant surprise! This book, both the variant and non-variant edition, look wonderful in person. The interior recoloring that was done for this release is also just an objective improvement over what was originally-printed!

As always, Ethan Alvarée breathes new life into the original art that gives each scene so much more depth than what the original offered. If you found yourself unimpressed by the artwork before, you might be surprised this time!

I hadn’t really considered it before, but the position Ken was left in when writing Shadow was very similar to where he was at with Knuckles back when he started those comics! It’s very interesting to think about, what might’ve been if they’d let Ken cook with Shadow’s background. I could definitely see there being die-hards for what he would’ve come up with, much like I can imagine for if he had stayed on the Sonic comic instead of going to Knuckles and had gotten to his plans for Sally!

Everything about the previously-untold “Two of Us” (intentional Beatles reference? I hope so!) story feels like classic Mobian Adventure Series – and that is a high compliment, as far as I’m concerned. I really want to read the follow-up, just like I wish I could read the comic All My Tomorrows would’ve been. The second draft definitely seems closer to what would come later in that comic series after Ken left, but even then I could see it working.

The history and heart with which the stories of this collection are shared to the reader are as touching as they need to be, considering what happened in the making of all this. At every turn, the book does not allow anyone to forget that there is a person (and, in fact, people) behind every comic they read. Sometimes that person is doing the best they can with limited resources, and sometimes that leads to a great story in spite of how difficult it was to get it over the line.

Just like every other Mobian Adventure Series release from Floating Island Productions, I could not be happier with my purchase. If you or someone you know is big on Shadow the Hedgehog, you’ve got every reason to pick this up!

The print quality is next-level as always, the stories have never looked better, and it all serves as a reminder that there was a time when Sonic comics were a very different production than they are now – and there’s a reason these ones have been worth remembering for so long. 🙂
