Saying Goodbye To Twitter

It’s been eleven years since I first signed on to Twitter, and if one asked me how long I would’ve stayed, I’d have guessed a couple of years at most. Or at least until after my legal battle with Archie had been resolved.

In the years since, I more or less viewed this as an experiment to see what I could make of it. It wasn’t easy at first with a number of people upset over the situation. All of a sudden something they had loved since they were kids was now radically different, and chances were it was never going to be restored to the way things had been. So there was a lot of anger directed my way.

I didn’t always respond the way I should’ve for a number of reasons. For one thing, I have this habit of never backing down from a fight. It’s what got me through my legal battle. For another, I wasn’t thinking of the long-term ramifications.

It’s only been in recent years that my interactions with others here on Twitter have evolved in a more positive direction. But while that was a huge positive, the overall environment here on Twitter has taken a decidedly nasty turn, one I have no interest in supporting by continuing to interact with.

After I post this last message, I’m done.

If people wish to follow my work or continue to interact with me, they can do so by checking out my website. I will respond to anyone who leaves a message by submitting to the approval process. It’s my way of maintaining a safe, friendly environment for everyone. Whether I agree or disagree with anyone or their opinion is irrelevant. What matters is people are respected for who and what they are.

I can also be found on Instagram & Threads. Just search for therealkenpenders. I’ll be there to say hello.

  1. Sad to see you leave Twitter, muh dude. but you’ll still be around on Facebook, I hope?

Anyway, it’s been great being able to communicate with you via twitter, even when we don’t necessarily see eye-to-eye on some things.

    1. You found me here. Nothing is stopping you from checking back here. No need to agree with me. Just continue to be constructive. That’s all I ask of anyone posting here.

  2. Hello ken

I wish you the best. It’s been a fun journey with you and Bob Repas for sure.
Theirs is so much to learn about making and selling art myself. You taught me a lot on Twitter even if I wasn’t on it myself.
That’s the gift of being an artist inspiring others.
Social stuff is complex and always a puzzle to try to unlock. I admire you tried Twitter braver than me.
I wish you the best on your lifes journey wherever it takes you.

    1. Megan, you sound like you’re saying goodbye to me. Just because I’m not not on Twitter doesn’t mean you can’t interact with me here. If anything, this is a much safer environment as no one can be attacked for who they are, what they believe, who they love and so on. You can express anything you want. That’s not something I can say to everyone, but I know the person you are. So don’t be a stranger. Anyone who communicates with me via other platforms can certainly communicate with me here.

      1. Oh you’re not leaving ? I misunderstood. You’re going to be on your main website?
Sorry I can be clueless. Darn this mental disability.
How wonderful you’re creating a safe place . I was attacked myself on Facebook for an article about me and about my invention or idea. Imagine being attacked for helping others. Good deeds are judged as political? That baffles me.
Thats why I was afraid of social media. But now that you created a space I have some hope. I enjoy your kind messages and seeing your posts explaining the creative process is amazing. I am in awe of it. It brings me joy.
I’ll hang around now that I understand you’ll be more at your website, I think. I hope I got it right.

        1. You have that right, and I won’t let anyone hurt you or others who choose to hang out here, Megan. That’s why I set up things the way I have.

          1. You’re a good person ken. You definitely use your knowledge of technology to help others like me.
            Keep up the good work.

  3. I’ve had some problems getting on the Kens corner forum. When I login it asks for my password and I forgot it. The forum is where I comment and hang around correct?
But my father has teamviewer and can see my computer. I figure he can guide me through that login process again.
If I haven’t been there in awhile it’s because of the password problem. Next time I will write down the password.
I’m terrible with technology and I don’t feel I have a fast enough brain for it. I have a slow brain due to my disabilty.
Calla and Megan is me, same person by the way. I know the forum was working until I forgot my password. I’ll ask my father to help me.

    1. I wish I could comment but I have no knowledge of the subject you’re inquiring about. Sorry about that.

  4. Hello Ken Penders

You were known for creating 200 plus sonic characters from Archie comics, but I wanna know who is your favorite character that you created?

Also, I wish you a best luck!

    1. It all depends on the story I’m telling at the time. As will be plain when reading THE LARA-SU CHRONICLES, clearly Lara-Su, Julie-Su, Lien-Da, Geoffrey St John, Director Remington, Spectre and Salma along with newcomers Commander Mykhal Taelor and Xero all rank high on my list. I could go on, but this list will do for now.
